“Good idea. No one wants to have to freeze to death if they can help it. Not even coffee is worth that.” It all felt so wrong, unnatural. His jokes seemed as if they all just fell flat and he didn’t even dare attempt to flirt with Alec. He couldn’t. He felt sick but couldn’t back out of this now.
Was there something wrong with him? Maybe Magnus wasn’t attracted to him at all. Maybe he wasn’t even interested in men. But it had certainly seemed that he had been interested. Alec couldn’t help the sudden twinge of disappointment, “Yeah, definitely not.”
Alec didn’t say anything further as they walked, too afraid that he would say the wrong thing and Magnus would decide this was a stupid idea after. He opened the door, holding it for the man to step inside first.
His hands slid into his pockets as they walked, not starting up any more conversation. He knew that Alec felt somewhat uncomfortable and he did as well, for an entirely different reason.
