“Right. Of course.” He nodded, chewing on the inside of his cheek as he stared at Alec. He wanted to explain it all to him but then again, why should he? Wasn’t Alec better off, safer without being involved in the supernatural?
“Magnus Bane. Sorry, I should probably let you– let you carry on with whatever you were doing.”
This wasn’t Magnus; sheepish and stuttering. He was not the one who would fumble for words, he was the one who was smooth with words.
“I was just about to go get coffee.” Alec hesitated a moment, “Do you wanna join me or anything? I don’t.. I don’t really have anywhere to be and you look like you could use the company.”
He couldn’t remember the last time he’d asked a guy on a date. Not that this was a date, of course. Alec didn’t know anything about the man other than his name. Magnus Bane. Why the hell did that sound so familiar to him?
“I–” There was a pause of hesitation. It was a horrific idea. It would only make things worse when he eventually went home again to an empty apartment. But he never really cared for his wellbeing. “Sure. Sounds good.”
Maybe he could pretend. Pretend nothing had ever happened, that this really was their first meeting. That they were normal people, living their normal lives.
