“Tell me what you want.” He demanded again, desperation in tone. He had to find a way to protect Magnus, “And you can have it. You just can’t take Magnus’ life. Anything but that.”

Tears were spilling from his eyes now, and Alec was starting to feel a little hopeless. His thoughts went to their first date, how awful it had started out, but then how great it had ended up. He thought about the first time Magnus had told him he loved him, and the time Alec admitted to everyone that he and Magnus were togther. Someone had to keep those memories alive.

“I’ll say it again, I’ll do anything.”

“I want power and I want chaos. And your life doesn’t fulfill that. Magnus’ life does. So, little Shadowhunter–”

He cut off as Magnus started to step forwards, a hand grabbing hold of Alec’s shoulder to steady himself. “Take my memories. Any of them. Then let us both leave along with our friends.”
