He’d begun to think that maybe he wouldn’t be getting out of Edom again. Either Sebastian would kill him or his father would. With or without his hands shackled, he was too weak to even attempt any sort of proper magic, more or less just waiting for death now.

His eyes had been closed when the door opened, head hanging forwards. But as his gaze lifted to land on the nephilim who was stood there, on Alec, he began to sit up slightly straighter. “Alec– Alec, you can’t be here–”

“I’m here for you, Magnus. I can’t just leave you like this.” Blue eyes met the warlock’s and he quickly stepped over, pulling out his stele to deal with the shackles he was bound with. He’d risked so much to get here, he wasn’t about to just walk away. Sebastian be damned. Alec could deal with him if he showed up.

“You’re more important.” His voice was quiet as he got the chains off, and started to help Magnus to his feet. Alec’s heart broke as he realized just how weak the man truly was in that moment, “Lean against me, I’ll get you out of here.”

“If he finds you, he’s going to kill you.” He couldn’t have Alec die for him. He refused to let Alec die, no matter what had happened between them in the past. But he couldn’t protect Alec here, he couldn’t do anything here.

He was already being pulled to his feet however, arm curling around the Shadowhunter’s shoulders to keep himself upright. “Be careful.” He murmured softly, fingers holding on tightly to his shirt.
