In all the time he’d been with Camille, Magnus had only heard complaints from Alec about the noise they made no matter what they were doing. Other than that he barely talked to the man that lived below him. One of his first thoughts when Camille and himself had ended? At least Alec wouldn’t need to complain any more. That was maybe the single positive that he could think of. He tried to return to normal life anyway but in the evenings, he never really did much. Not like before.

It had been weeks and still nothing had changed. But the last person he expected to come knocking on his door, quite literally, was Alec. He almost opened the door but then backed away again when he realised who it was.

Alec wasn’t normally one to complain. However, when his neighbor and his girlfriend quite literally kept him awake with their laughter and other noises, he felt he had no choice. He complained to Magnus about every little thing and it was probably rather annoying, but Alec just wanted some sleep.

That had been a while ago, though. Alec hadn’t heard a single sound since and while he knew he should be happy about it, he wasn’t. Every time he saw Magnus, the man looked heartbroken and Alec felt more than slightly guilty. It was why he found himself knocking on his door.

“Magnus, it’s Alec. Can you please open the door? I’ve been standing out here knocking for a while and.. shit. You probably aren’t even home. Or asleep. I’m sorry I just wanted to see if you were okay.”

With his forehead pressed to the door, he let out a heavy sigh. He didn’t know what Alec wanted or why he’d even decided to come but the last thing he wanted to do was talk to someone.

“I’m fine. You don’t have to worry about me.” He called through the door. He didn’t pull away though, fingers instead moving to unlock the door and open it to allow Alec inside.

“Really, I’m okay. Just got a bad taste in women, clearly.” He pressed his lips together and offered a tight smile as he stepped back slightly. “At least you’re able to get some sleep now, right?”
