Alec had never felt so nervous in his life as the moment he’d asked Magnus the one question that mattered more than anything in the world. Not when he’d been attempting to chose the perfect ring with Isabelle’s help and sworn her to secrecy (one she’d gladly accepted) or when he’d dropped the children off for the evening so the two might have some alone time together. It hadn’t been a big fancy display or am intricate affair. That wasn’t Alec’s style and though his sibling had insisted he make a show of it, he’d opted for the more intimate affair with dinner and a long stroll, the question coming just before they’d retired to the loft for the rest of the evening.

The following morning he woke with a smile to his face, content to stay in bed and watch at the other slept until finally he’d woken on his own. The children wouldn’t be dropped back until the afternoon so he was in no rush to rouse the other.

“Morning,” he whispered as good eyes finally met his own.

Had Magnus been expecting that question? Not at all. No chance. He’d never imagined that he’d ever be engaged or married in his long life. But Alec seemed to be an exception to all his expectations. That was why he had cried. Cried for quite a long while as well. And naturally he said yes.

The only indication that he’d woken up was a soft noise made in the back of his throat and a slightly disgruntled frown creasing his brow. It took him another few minutes after that for him to open his eyes but when he did a soft smile slid onto his lips.

“Good morning.” He murmured as he slowly shifted closer to Alec.

Alec could hardly help the grin upon his face as his other half shifted closer and reached out for him, the sunlight filtering in Through the window catching the newest of Magnus’ rings. Normally the warlock would have some strong words for him regarding the amount of light in the room at such an early (for him) hour but this morning was free of that. “Did you sleep well?” The nephilim asked. His lips pressed to the outer ridge of Magnus’ ear and slowly made their way down the side of his neck. Fingers were already dancing along his rib cage and down his bare side and over his outer thigh. They hardly had much alone time with two children running about so even the briefest moments of intimacy were precious.

Magnus couldn’t help but lean into the fingers and lips that ghosted over his skin, a pleased hum escaping the warlock as eyes fluttered closed for a brief moment or two. “Very well, thank you. Did you?” His head turned slightly then to find Alec’s lips with his own and catch them in a warm kiss. If it was possible, he felt even more in love with Alec than he did 24 hours earlier. It seemed impossible that he could love the Shadowhunter any more yet every time he surprised himself.
